The Dick Van Dyke Show

The Dick Van Dyke Show is one of the better known sitcoms from the 1960's. It ran for 5 years (1961-1966) and produced 158 episodes and also enjoyed a long second life for many years in syndication.
Developed by Carl Reiner, a pilot was made in 1960 with Reiner in the starring role. That all changed by the time the show went into production and Reiner remained behind the scenes and appeared occasionally as Van Dyke's boss. The show starred not only Van Dyke as Rob Petrie, but made a household name out of Mary Tyler Moore as his wife Laura. The show was a balance of Rob & Laura's home life and Rob's work life as a comedy writer for 'The Alan Brady Show'. The Dick Van Dyke Show was usually aired back-to-back on CBS with another huge 60's sitcom, The Beverly Hillbillies.
