The Adventures Of Ozzie and Harriet

The Adventures Of Ozzie and Harriet was a situation comedy written and produced by Ozzie Nelson and starring Ozzie, his wife Harriet and sons David and Ricky as themselves. Some 435 episodes were aired between 1952 and 1966 and this collection contains 205 of them. I took the time to sort through all 205 and correctly identify them (as about half of them were misidentified when they came into my hands). This show is one of many that began life as a radio program (this one in 1944) before making the transition to television.

F Troop

F Troop, a sitcom that lasted two seasons (65 episodes) from 1965 to 1967, took place at "Fort Courage" in Kansas in the late 1860's. This show was also aired in the UK, Ireland and Australia. Starring Forest Tucker, Larry Storch (who is a couple weeks away from celebrating his 89th birthday), Ken Berry, Melody Patterson, Frank DeCova and James Hampton.
A popular show in it's day, it was canceled because the new owner of Warner Brothers objected to the production costs.

The Rifleman

The Rifleman was a western that aired on ABC for 5 seasons (168 episodes) between 1958 and 1963.
Starring Chuck Connors (a former professional baseball and basketball player who spent time with the Boston Celtics, Brooklyn Dodgers and Chicago Cubs) and Johnny Crawford as his son (a former Disney Mouseketeer whose appearance made him something of a teen idol in the early 60's). The show took place in the 1880's in what is now New Mexico and Arizona.
Now, when you see nearly 60 episodes on a single disc it should set off some red flags for you. The video size of these files is only about half of what they should be, but I checked these out on a 26-inch TV and they looked fine. I wouldn't recommend viewing them on a TV larger than that.

It's About Time

It's About Time was a farcical 60's sitcom from the same folks that produced the successful Gilligan's Island. It was even shot on the same set as Gilligan's and also had a large cast of over-the-top characters. In the space-crazy days of the 60's two astronauts manage to break the light-barrier and go back to prehistoric time encountering a group of "cave-people" who sound like refugees from a 50's cowboys & Indians film. It did have funny performances from Imogene Coca, Joe E. Ross, Cliff Norton and Mike Mazurki. In the last 6 or 7 episodes the astronauts manage to repair their craft and return to the 20th century only to discover the "cave" family of Coca and Ross and their two kids were stowaways so the "fish-out-of-water" theme is flipped from the 'astronauts meet the Flintstones' to cave-people in 20th century.

McHale's Navy

McHale's Navy was a popular 1960s sitcom about a PT boat crew in WWII. The first three seasons take place in the South Pacific while the fourth was located in Italy. This is often considered to be the 60's equivalent of what the Phil Silvers Show / Bilko was to the 50's.
Starring Ernest Borgnine as Lt Commander Quinton McHale, Joe Flynn as Capt. Binghampton and Tim Conway as Ensign Parker.
Ernest Borgnine as McHale did not originate with this show. He first appeared in the role in an episode of Alcoa Presents called Seven Against The Sea in 1962. That was not a comedy, but a drama.
Following Season 2 a McHale's Navy film was released and following Season 3 another film was released called McHale's Navy Joins the Air Force
All 3 of those rare films are found on Disc 8.

Mission: Impossible

Mission: Impossible was another 60's secret agent type drama that enjoyed a long run. This one was a little different as it dealt with a team of "specialists" recruited from their various fields of expertise to carry out secret missions for the government.
